Praise God for...

So I was just clearing out my desk to start a new semester, to turn over a new page in my life, moving from Zambia-minded to Ghana-minded in anticipation for my upcoming internship this summer with Women in Progress. More to come in a different blog on that excitement later (amyinghana2011.blogspot.com). Anyways, found a piece of graph paper with "Praise God for..." written at the top. Pretty sure this note was written during a women's time, after a tough week with us being in need of reflection for just how thankful we are to our Maker, to the Sustainer of life. Maybe no one is still reading this blog but I figured it'd be beneficial to add to the site in personal reflection for how faithful God was there and how faithful He continues to be.

Praise God for...
health, Christian community, great leadership, beautiful weather, a warm bed, showers, plenty of food, the ability to go to the ATM, being well-clothed, supportive family, non-Christian friends, Amanda, Thandy, Deborah, Beauty, every single orphan's life, Elena at Deborah Orphanage, welcoming and helpful Zambian staff, unmet expectations, knowing no one from home, being broken time and time again, crepes and smoothies, openness and friendliness of Zambians, being HERE, changed lives, feeling uncomfortable, being shown my own selfishness daily, a change of plans, experiencing a new culture, being born in America, the great opportunities to transfer this back home, nshima, English as the official language, honest and raw worship to God, learning how to relax, movie nights with popcorn and chocolate, pillow talk, vulnerability, using me even at my worst, Nutella and peanut butter, Jungle Oats, bottled water, phone to communicate, THIS EXPERIENCE!, down time at Victoria Falls, built-in quiet times, sweet chefs and lodge staff, Kamloops Lodge, freaking out at CBU, growing closer to the Lord, an uncertain future, makeup, group devotions, UNZA ministry, Catrice, Luna bars, seeing life in a simpler form, mini buses, surviving them, laundry women, opened eyes to poverty and the realities of death, a relationship with the living God, worship music, living in peaceful Lusaka, the heart that's been grown for a people different than me, tolerance, patience, prayer, avoiding my pit of despair, encouraging friends, being pursued by the Lord, provision to come here, using Greek Summit to prepare my heart, being free from my past, living in joy, God's grace, African sunsets, Zambia.

Our team fasted in prayer this past Monday, trusting God to continue to move in the hearts of every person we met (or didn't meet) in Zambia. Please join us in continuing to pray for a nation so in need of ordinary necessities for survival, especially of Jesus, the One who makes an eternal life possible for us, the One who allows us to life a satisfied life only when we accept the idea that our lives are His. I'm praying that each one of you is experiencing a sweet closeness with the Lord or growing more curious about just who this Jesus is, and everything in between.
